The programmes and curriculum have been evolved, over the years, by the members of faculty based on their teaching experience and long standing interaction with various foreign universities and Industries. The curriculum offered is outcome based and helps students to develop critical thinking abilities and imbibe relevant practical skills for a smooth transition from academics to real life work environment. Opportunities are provided for students to do their internship in India or abroad depending on their preference. The alumni of the Faculty hold respected positions in industry and business in India and abroad.

The Faculty undertakes Sponsored Research with Departments of Defence and Space related Aerospace, Automotive, Semiconductor, Electronic systems. The Faculty interacts with industry and businesses offering Engineering Consultancy, Product Design and Development services, along with training modules to practicing professionals. The Faculty interacts with more than 150 companies in public and private sectors spread across India including many OEMs.

The Faculty has set up a TIFAC-CORE in Digital Image Processing. It also works closely with DRDO Laboratories like GTRE, ADE, ADA, CVRDE, DARE, CAIR, NPOL, AR &DB, DRDO-IP & ER and DST on research projects and has actively participated in NP-MICAV and GATET programmes. The Faculty was involved in international projects under EU- FP6 and UKIERI and has received equipment grants from multinationals like Agilent Technologies, Texas Instruments, Xilinx etc. More than 100 papers are published annually and make contributions to the University publications - Book of Students Projects Abstracts, a student feedback magazine called Reflections and a biannual technical journal-SAS Tech.
Organization
The University aims to focus its programmes on student-centric higher education so that the graduates are equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills expected by industry and business. The university has four verticals – Academic Studies; Academic Research; Training, Skill Development and Lifelong Learning and a Techno Centre for Consultancy, Product Design and Development and Entrepreneurship Development. Students of the University can expect to experience an integrated approach to academics, research, training, real life problem solving and entrepreneurship.

The University, at present, has established faculties in Engineering and Technology, Art and Design, Management and Commerce, Mathematical & Physical Sciences, Biological & Life Sciences, Dental Sciences, Pharmacy and Hospitality Management & Catering Technology. Through these faculties, the University offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. The faculties offer an enriched curriculum drawn from the strong interactions between the faculties and industry and business.

The University has also created the Directorates of: Student Affairs; Quality, Educational Processes and Educational Technologies; Sponsored Research; Training and Lifelong Learning (TLLL) and Techno Centre to provide rich, all-round experience to students. The University’s head office is located at the Gnanagangothri Campus, MSR Nagar, New BEL Road, Bangalore. The modern infrastructural facilities like Class Rooms, Seminar Halls, Laboratories, Work Shops, Clinics, Libraries, Student Amenities including Sports Centres, Hostels, Cafeteria, Recreation Centres, Literary and Cultural activity centres, Wi-Fi and other support facilities to make the students’ experience enjoyable and memorable. The strength of the faculties lies within its well qualified, experienced and student-friendly Faculty Members. The M. S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences is committed to work on the philosophy of inclusiveness and service to society and to train its faculty members and students to contribute significantly to the growth of science, technology and society through their imaginative, creative and innovative pursuits. The University is expected to have more than 500 members of faculty and 8,000 students on its campuses spread over more than 100 acres of land in the near future.
The university is governed by the chancellor, Dr. M. R. Jayaram. Vice-Chancellor of the university is Dr. S. R. Shankapal. The university houses various faculties leading to award of degrees in undergraduate(B.Tech, B.Des., B.H.M., B.Pharm., Pharm. D., B.D.S.), post graduate(M.Tech., M.Des., M.B.A., M.H.A., M.Pharm., MBA Hospitality Management, M.D.S., M.Com., M.Sc.) and doctoral programs.

The M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences considers that it is essential and important to train students on transferable skills, managerial skill and leadership skills in addition to providing Education and Practical Skills with global standards in their chosen area of domain to make them successful in their chosen career. The Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) was earlier known as the M.S. Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies (MSRSAS) and was established in 1999. MSRSAS offered Masters Degree programmes in Engineering & Technology and Business Management in collaboration with Coventry University of UK until the establishment of the University. Now, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in Engineering and Technology areas.
