Taking AIEEE 2012 Online? Keep these tips in mind
With the AIEEE 2012 dates announced, students would have started preparing for the country’s biggest entrance examination. In the coming year, CBSE has selected 22 cities to conduct the AIEEE online. The cities that are chosen for online format will not have the traditional paper pencil format. This means that if you’re from any one of these cities then you will have to compulsorily take the exam in the online format.
AIEEE 2012 Online exam will be conducted over a window of several weeks from May 7, 2012 to May 25, 2012. The other locations in India will still conduct the examination in the traditional paper pencil format on a single day – April 29, 2012.
Usually students who have to take the online exam are a jittery lot. They fear technical snags and expect that taking the examination online would reduce their chances of fairing well. Let us examine some important points students need to keep in mind while taking the AIEEE examination in 2012 in the online format-:
Have a positive mindset: First, convince yourself before the examination that there is no fundamental difference between the paper-pencil format and the online format. The medium is different; the content will be the same. Have faith in yourself that you will be able to crack the exam irrespective of what format you take the exam in.
Familiarise yourself: Students should familiarise themselves with the online format before they actually take the exam. There will be a practice option available on the official site of AIEEE. Other than that, students should also enrol for a good online practice model exam series for practice.
Have no fear: When the pilot for online format of AIEEE was conducted in 2011, there were no technical snags that were reported from the test centres. So candidates should not give in to any fears of system malfunctioning, test screens not moving forward / backward etc. and should completely focus on the content of the examination.
Need for versatility: Candidates can go back to a question marked for solving towards the end of the exam window. In the paper pencil format, the students will be able to quickly start from where they left off. The same versatility should be developed for the questions on the screen also. It would be gross misuse of the exam-time if you were to start over again. The screen adaptation of ‘mid-way interventions’ needs to be practised several times over.
Work on speed: It is important to practice as many AIEEE papers in the online format so that you can work on your speed and accuracy.
I think current students are more comfortable with online exams, they use the computers daily and can perform faster on computer then paper pen exam method...
Haha.. seems Facebook have done one good thing, Made students computer literate :P
